how to “trick out” a plain jane mirror
A cute couple brought me a laminate mirror from the guy’s childhood bedroom set. They thought it was ugly and wondered if I could do anything with it.
I assured them that I could fix it up better than new… trick it out, if you will. ๐
The first step was to purchase a beautiful applique from Home Depot.
Next step, adhere it to the top of the mirror frame with Gorilla Glue and clamp it. If you don’t have enough clamps, make do with whatever you have on hand. ๐
Next, I painted it with Ben Moore’s Cloud White, and then dry brushed it with Martha’s Sharkey Grey and Martha’s Winter’s Day. Sorry, no photos of this step. ๐ฆ
Then I lightly sanded it and glazed it with Valspar’s antiquing glaze.
Here is the after…
From a childhood plain jane mirror, to a very grown up sophisticated mirror in a couple of easy steps.
I’m happy this week is winding down early for us! Monday is “Family Day,” my favorite holiday here in Canada! And my kids are out tomorrow for a PD day, so we have a four day weekend!
Yeeee-haaaaawwwww!
I know that cute couple and THEY ARE GOING TO LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! WOW Susan you up and did it again!! Almost like BritBrit!! (oops I did it again…) haha

Ohh know…I am now addicted to you..haha =) You are unbelievable, this is absolutely gorgeous and everything I imagined.
Such a huge change and so pretty! I bet they will be happy! I’m looking forward to Family Day too. My boys have a 4 day weekend, and I have a 3 day because we are in different school boards.
