  4. What a dad, what a dad! This brought a lump to my throat! And what lucky young men those guys are! Memories in the making. Cherish them. They grow up and leave home SO FAST! Our yard didn’t have a hockey rink, but we had the neighborhood football field and basketball court, that played a small part in our boys helping win the State BB Championship 10 years ago. I would love to be able to go back and have a day or two of those days back! So take lots of pictures and enjoy watching them have fun out there! karen fr/ NE

As a true hockey fan, I love this rink for your boys. There are 3 of 4 brothers, named Staal, whose dad did this for them every year in Thunder Bay Ontario. These three boys are now in the NHL and are millionaires. The fourth son is in the minors and is said to be as good or better than his brothers. You never know what something like this can lead to, if only healthy fun in your back yard. Good on ya!!

Susan, You have an amazing husband and family! It’s fun to get to see the personal side of Jim but it certainly translates into his interpersonal skills at work too! Showed these pics to my husband who grew up in Indiana and Pennsylvania – and it reminded him of stuff he did as a kid with his Dad and younger brother. Thanks for sharing your personal family ‘moments’ that create memories. Fondly, Eva

PS I do hope to get to meet you some day!

  12. Wow! How totally awesome!!!! Is that a thing? Do people make ice rinks in their yard now? When I was a kid we just waited for random puddles in fields to freeze over – but this is so much cooler!

  13. This is awesome! I never imagined having this in our backyard. I never thought that it wouldn’t be too expensive. Results are really cool and aside from that, you get to bond while putting it up.
