a little tweaking

Definition of tweak

transitive verb    :to make usually small adjustments in or to <tweak the controls>; especially : fine-tune

There is another use of the word heard on a pretty regular basis around our home.

Example…one son to another son…“Dude!!! Mom’s gonna TWEAK!!!”

When used in this way it does NOT mean:

a) “Josh have you noticed that mom changed out the pillows to reflect a more fall-ish color palette?”

OR

b) “I KNOW Jake, would you just look at the suh-weet way mom is incorporating those pumpkins and pomegranates into the decor?”

N to the O.

When used by my boys it means, “oooooooooo you did it now and mom is gonna flip/wig out.”

Problem is, when they use that expression I do anything but “tweak” because I find it so dang funny. It tickles my funny bone.

Anyhoo, I have been doing a little tweaking (the good kind) around here now that there’s a hint of fall in the air.

I added some upholstered chairs next to the wood burning stove (I think that thing is an eye sore and a decorating abomination, but everyone tells me I’ll feel differently in the ccc-cold Chicago wintertime. We’ll see.)

I wanted to create a cozy little sitting area in the kitchen and camouflage the black beast as best I could.

The little footstools were a Target find (my mom spotted them for me) and a perfect addition to the space.

Have you done any tweaking lately?

  3. Darling footstools from TARGET!!! OMG! I need to shop Target more often. They are darling. And I love that you have a seating area in your large kitchen. The stove adds lots of charm, too. Did you buy the chairs from IKEA? I’m getting ready to buy new living room chairs/sofa and think I’ll buy from IKEA so I can change out the slipcovers. I love your style of decorating, btw 😉

I LOVE the black stove. And you did such a cute job decorating around it. I think it will be awesome in the winter. Sigh… I miss fall & winter. We live in PHX and the highs are still 107. Thanks for sharing a little dose of fall. Sarah

    • Hi Jen, I’m sorry but our kitchen was that colour when we moved in. It is a pretty grey green. I tried to color match it for someone else but couldn’t find the exact shade. Sorry!
